In recent years, Sudan's economic growth has been driven mainly by the agricultural sector, and local government authorities have placed a high priority on investment in agricultural infrastructure development.
The problem of energy and water sources is one of the most important issues many countries are faced with. Around more than 30% agricultural pumps are not available to connect with grid electricity due to poor power facilities. And 50% farms cannot get well irrigated because of poor water conservancy infrastructure. Nowadays the cost of diesel is rapidly increasing，so the cost of maintenance on diesel generator pump system is very high. It is urgent and important to find a sustainable way for agricultural irrigation.
Solar powered water pump technology is a very good solution to agricultural irrigation. The system consists of 12kW solar array，7.5kW pump inverter and 7.5kw pump and provides 20m³/h water for irrigation.

The scope of the project included the supply and installation of 1 SI23 series solar water pumping system which can provide 40 cubic meters per day at a head of 40m. veichi pumping system does not require batteries. Solar power is supplied to the pumps during the day and can be switched to grid power at night if necessary to meet the 24-hour operation of the pumps.
